Vinh Moc Tunnel Introduction

Quang Tri is a small province in the central of Viet Nam. In Viet Nam war, Quang Tri is the hottest name in every international press of the world. It’s really famous for many destinations which were related to events of Viet Nam war. The Ben Hai River it used to be a demarcation line between North and South Vietnam During Vietnam-American War, and it was a natural border separated country into 2 different governments. This river created a DMZ- Demilitarized Zone of five km each from the river with a lot of heavy battles between USA soldiers and Vietnamese soldiers. If you want to visit this place, you should notice the most outstanding destination Vinh Moc Tunnel.

Vinh Moc Tunnel (Vinh Moc village, Vinh Thach, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province) is a military structure. This tunnel system existed in the north of the Ben Hai River, Hien Luong Bridge from 1965-1972. In Viet Nam war, civilians from Vinh Linh country of Quang Tri province use this tunnel to shelter people from many intense bombing of US air force. They built so many apartments along the tunnel In order to ensure for hundreds of people dining, accommodation, convenience and living safety.

Tunnels are separated into three floors .The first floor is deep from 12 to 15 meters to ground used for inhabiting of people. The second floor is the headquarters of the People’s Committee and Military Command, and the distance to a ground is 18 meters. The third floor was used for storing logistics supply in nearly 30 meters to ground. Although Vinh Moc Tunnel is very deep and complicated, the deepest flour is still higher than level sea up to 3 meters. From 1966 to 1972, around 60 families lived in the tunnels; as many as 17 children were born inside the tunnels. Truthfully, you shouldn’t skip Vinh Moc Tunnel when visiting Quang Tri province via DMZ tour.

Approximately 132 km to the north are Quang Binh province. It’s a coastal province in the North Central of Vietnam with a population nearly 900.000 people. If QuangTri province is well-known for Viet Nam war memorial, Quang Binh province is famous for natural beauty. In here, there are a lot of natural destinations recognized as by UNESCO as World Natural Heritage such as Phong Nha National Park.

Phong Nha National Park is a complex of many limestone caves, underground rivers and numerous ecosystems. The most beautiful part is Phong Nha cave. This cave was created by many underground rivers together with of the limestone. According to many scientists around the world, the cave was formed about 250 years ago with total area nearly 10,000 m2. When we go inside the cave, you can have a chance to visit many smaller caves with amazing names such as Lion caves, Fairy caves, Royal Court cave and Buddha caves.
